The War-scarred corset
This sculptural corset is both a couture garment and a powerful narrative piece. Crafted from structured coutil and built with internal lacing and a concealed zipper, it offers exceptional support and a beautifully defined silhouette. Padded hips and a push-up bra enhance the form, creating a dramatic, hourglass shape that feels both strong and deliberately exaggerated.
Across the nude-toned base, deep red fabric embellishments emerge like organic scars, layered and textured to evoke the appearance of burned and healing skin. Each appliqué is hand-placed, forming a visceral contrast against the smooth corset surface, transforming the body into a canvas that speaks of trauma, resilience, and survival.
As part of a two-piece conceptual ensemble exploring the effects of war on the human body and mind, this corset embodies physical memory — the way conflict imprints itself onto flesh and identity. It is designed not only to be worn, but to be felt and contemplated, merging fashion with storytelling in a piece that is as haunting as it is beautiful.
